Fantasy Football managers furious over Harry Kane goal decision

This doesn't seem fair

Robert Redmond

Tottenham’s second goal against Stoke City on Saturday has been awarded to Harry Kane.

Kane was so adamant that he got a touch on Christian Eriksen’s free-kick he swore on his daughter’s life that the final contact came off his shoulder. The Spurs striker celebrated like he scored the goal and told anyone who would listen following the match that it was his goal.

Eriksen was awarded the goal following Saturday’s match and Kane was left to sweat for a few days as Spurs appealed the Premier League’s decision.

On Wednesday evening, Kane got his wish and the goal was awarded to him.

He now has 25 Premier League goals this season, four behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

Salah and his teammates seemed surprised by the decision, but at least they aren’t one of the many Fantasy Football players who had made Kane captain for the match.

Many people who play the popular game on the Premier League’s official website were left cursing their luck. The Fantasy Premier League have not followed the Premier League’s lead, and will not be awarding Saturday’s goal to Kane.

Kane scored just one point in the game. The goal would have brought him on to six points for the game week, 12 points if he was your captain, and possibly more after bonus points were awarded.

The England striker is one of the most popular players in the game, and the decision not to give him points for the goal has not been well received.

According to the Fantasy Premier League it is now too late to give Kane points for the goal. On their website, it reads:

“While the goal has now been awarded to Harry Kane after review, this will not be reassigned in Fantasy Premier League and therefore points will not be modified. As stated in the game rules, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have been updated on that day, no further adjustments are made. To remain consistent with this rule, statistics and points shown in the game from Saturday April 7 in Gameweek 33 will not change.”

However, many Fantasy managers found the decision difficult to accept.
