€105m Paul Pogba endears himself to rational football fans with transfer saga admission

Finally got there

Patrick McCarry

It’s hard to announce a multi-million pound transfer what with Euros, holidays, photoshoots and rap videos to look after.

Paul Pogba is a Manchester United player again and should be ready to line out for his old yet new club, against Bournemouth, on August 14.

The 23-year-old midfielder was finally announced as United’s fourth summer transfer after two months of stories linking him with a return to Old Trafford. Pogba came across as chuffed and dead keen to get started in Manchester all over again.

He also took time out to post a long goodbye to Juventus fans on Instagram. Over the course of six posts, which made up one giant image, the Frenchman expressed his hope that Juve fans could understand his reasons for moving to United.

Pogba farewell

Pogba made one comment about the transfer saga which will surely resonate with most football fans – it took a while to happen and it was a pain in the hole. He also noted that he was legally obliged to keep as schtum as possible:

‘This transfer took so long because it was a huge decision and involved lots of thinking and work. The wait was as annoying to me as it was to you.

“To all supporters who wrote on my pages about transfer rumours, I have read you all and thank you for the passionate messages. My apologies for not responding before, by law I could not talk.’

He’s at United now and talking to anyone who will listen.

Or, if you prefer the rap arrival version…
