Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Juventus from Real Madrid

He leaves Real Madrid after eight seasons at the club

It’s official.

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Juventus from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of €100m (£88.3m). He will reportedly sign a four-year contract that will see him earn £500k per week at the Italian club.

The Portuguese forward scored 450 goals in 438 matches for Real Madrid, winning three consecutive Champions League trophies. He joins a Juventus side who have won seven back to back Serie A titles, but who have not won the Champions League since 1996.

Ronaldo spoke after the Champions League final, hinting at the possibility that he would leave Real Madrid this summer, after eight seasons at the club. He told reporters straight after the final whistle that “In the coming days there will be an answer about my future. It has been nice playing for Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid released a statement on their website, which reads:

Real Madrid CF communicates that, in response to the will and request expressed by the player Cristiano Ronaldo, he has agreed to transfer to Juventus FC.

He has also become the top scorer in the history of Real Madrid with 451 goals in 438 games. In total 16 titles, including 4 European Cups, 3 of them consecutive and 4 in the last 5 seasons. On an individual basis, with the Real Madrid jersey he has won 4 Gold Balls, 2 The Best, and 3 Gold Boots, among many other awards.

For Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of his great symbols and a unique reference for the next generations.
