Brian Kerr and Co. get drowned by Tallaght sprinklers

Water ye doing lads?

Niall McIntyre

Why does it always rain on me?

That’s exactly what Eir sport’s team of analysts will be asking in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday night after the sprinklers decided to let it all out on top of host Conor Morris, Pat Fenlon, Damien Lynch, and former Ireland manager Brian Kerr.

The lads were previewing Shamrock Rovers’ second-leg Europa League tie with Stjarnan pitchside prior to kick-off when they felt the wrath of the pitch sprinklers.

See the footage for yourself here.

The crowd didn’t seem too concerned for the lads, that’s for sure, although, they might add, they had them well warned.

Rovers took a precious 1-0 lead and an away goal into their Europa League first round second leg qualifier, and they didn’t waste too much time in adding to their advantage when Graham Burke scored after 20 minutes of play.

Rovers held onto their advantage and went on to win the tie 2-0 on aggregate.

In fairness to host Conor Morris, he was unfazed by the madness, but Pat Fenlon’s reaction was the most bizarre of all, deciding to do a little lap-of-honour after the incident.

Brian Kerr was nowhere to be seen and Damien Lynch made a quick escape.

Brilliant stuff.
