Now, with less than 48 hours of wheeling and dealing to go, the weekend newspapers are dropping the names of global uber-stars like they’re extremely hot.
Let’s kick off, shall we, with The Sun claiming Manchester City are set to launch a £130m bid for Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Transfer speculation is leaking out of Madrid like a well-holed sieve. Next on the gossip block is Gareth Bale. Manchester United, we are told by The Daily Star, have squirreled away £120m and are going to use it to spring the Welsh lamb in the summer.
Next, Marco Reus. While the German appeared, for eons, to be destined for Real Madrid, Bild now tell us Arsenal, Liverpool AND Manchester United are vying for the wingers attentions.
QPR and West Brom are cooing at West Ham midfielder Mark Noble after Darren Fletcher nears a move to the Hammers. Liverpool are close to bringing in Hannover 96 midfielder Lars Strindl.
