Bad news for Manchester United on Antoine Griezmann but they have an alternative

On to the next one...

Because one ridiculously expensive French international is *never* enough, plenty thought Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United was stitched on.

The Atletico Madrid striker had ditched his agent, was best mates with Paul Pogba and his brother supports United – all the ingredients needed for a 100%-going-to-happen transfer story.

But with the end of the season in sight, it seems Mr Griezmann may not end up at Old Trafford after all.

With some reports claiming that the move is less likely to happen, United are being linked with alternatives. Unsurprisingly, Romelu Lukaku will probably be in the frame after his contract rejection at Everton, as will Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, who helped end Manchester City’s campaign for another season.

But according to the Independent, the man United are now keeping close tabs on is Celtic’s Moussa Dembele.

The 20-year-old has impressed since moving to Glasgow and will apparently burn a £30m hole in Glazer family pockets which, in today’s market, is not bad going for a free-scoring 20-year-old.

United are looking increasingly likely to lose Wayne Rooney at the end of the season, and leading scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future is also uncertain with reports claiming that his agent held talks with LA Galaxy earlier in the week.
