Arsenal fans love Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s greeting for ‘Troopz’

Simon Lloyd

It’s the dawn of a new era at Arsenal Football Club

In a matter of days, a different Arsenal – Unai Emery‘s Arsenal – will take to the field for a competitive game. It will be the first time in nearly a quarter of a century that the club will have a new manager at the helm.

Naturally, such a significant change raises a number of questions. Will the club’s style of play be altered? Will they be able to mount a serious title challenge? And most importantly: what the fuck are ArsenalFanTV going to talk about now that Arsene Wenger has actually left?

The club’s unofficial fan YouTube channel became synonymous with some of the darker days of Wenger’s final couple of years in charge of the Gunners. Its popularity soared as it shared the angry reactions of supporters to countless disappointing results. Wenger often took the full force of their fury, but many of the club’s key players weren’t exactly exempt from criticism, either.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, however, has yet to – at least to our knowledge – piss any of the AFTV gang off too much.  Having arrived from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window, he still managed 10 goals in 13 league appearances for the club. All the more impressive given the turmoil of Wenger’s final few weeks as boss.

Expected to spearhead Emery’s attack when the season kicks off, Aubameyang was part of the Arsenal team to take part in an open training session in Singapore, ahead of the friendly with Paris Saint-Germain.

AFTV’s Troopz was also in attendance, watching with fellow supporters from the stands. Spotted by Aubameyang as he made his way to the changing rooms, the striker greeted him with a handshake and by yelling “AubameBloodclaatYang” at him.

Those who keenly followed AFTV’s updates on Aubameyang’s transfer to the club will know all about the origins of this expression…

Naturally, this went down well with Troopz. It’s also gone down well with those who have since seen it on social media, many saying it sums up the feel-good factor around the club ahead of the new season.
