Alisson set to reject Liverpool in favour of a move to Real Madrid

Jurgen Klopp will have to look further afield to replace Loris Karius

Bad news for Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool are in pretty desperate need of a new goalkeeper. Whatever you think of Loris Karius’ potential, those costly errors in the Champions League final will make it near impossible for him to succeed at Liverpool. He needs a fresh start, and Liverpool need a fresh ‘keeper.

Roma’s Alisson has been their first choice target for several months now, after his incredible season in Serie A and numerous top displays in the Champions League. Roma recently named their asking price of £79m for the Brazil international, enough to make anyone baulk, even in this market.

But now it seems that Real Madrid could swoop in and poach Alisson from under Liverpool’s nose. According to MARCA, it’s thought that Zinedine Zidane’s resignation has paved the way for club president Florentino Perez to bring in a replacement for Keylor Navas, who Zidane was a fan of.

Alisson is in high demand, with many top clubs looking for elite goalkeepers, and Liverpool would probably struggle to convince him to join them instead of going to Madrid.

Klopp may have to look further afield for his new number one.

Liverpool have already signed defensive midfielder Fabinho in this window and are keen on buying Nabil Fekir from Lyon too as they look to mount a proper title challenge next season.
