Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain post-knee surgery message is very moving

The hard work starts now

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

He’s not had much luck with injuries

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has enjoyed a resurgence this season after a terrible start. He began the season at Arsenal and suffered a humiliating defeat to Liverpool, whom he joined immediately afterwards. Liverpool were then put to the sword by Man City and it seemed like Ox was carrying some sort of curse.

Since then, he’s steadily improved and would have been a definite starter for England at the World Cup had he not suffered a devastating knee injury during the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final against Roma. The injury will keep him out for months, preventing him from going to the World Cup and playing in the Champions League final. You can earn all the money in the world, that will still hurt.

He watched the second leg of that tie from his hospital bed, as shown in his tweet today.

The good news is the success of the knee surgery. He will be gutted to be missing such big occasions but he has come back from injuries before and he will undoubtedly work hard to return to peak fitness after this setback. Liverpool and England will both miss him, just as much as he will miss playing.
