Justin Rose now holds a piece of history.

On golf’s return to the Olympics, after an absence of 112 years, the Englishman registered a hole-in-one which is now being recorded as the first in the history of the Games.

Rose was full of confidence after birdying the third in Barra da Tijuca and wrote himself into Olympic history when he let rip on the fourth, coolly monitored the flight of the ball and triumphantly held his arms aloft when it dropped 10 feet short of the flag and dribbled into the cup.

Golf, you’ve been gone too long my friend.
