“Look at all the space Aaron Neill has. You can’t give Aaron Neill that amount of space.”
When the students of Glencull Primary School analyse a GAA game, it stays analysed.
The youngsters have made it to the final of the Best Young Sports Analyst Awards after putting together an excellent package on a tense, tight game with Errigal.
The award, which will judged by a panel of experts that includes Tyrone legend Peter Canavan, is for school children across the country.
If you are expecting these students to rely on bluster and hyperbole, like so many before them have, you’d be wrong. The team have all key players scouted and point out where the winning and losing of the game will be.
We love the fact that the Glencull team spare no feelings in their on-the-money analysis. All faults are hung out to dry while quality performances are also praised.
The Tyrone school are in a group of six finalists. The others are Marlin College (Galway), St. Malachy’s Primary School (Tyrone), Friends’ School Lisburn (Antrim) St. Louis Grammar School (Ballymena) and St. Dominic’s Grammar (Belfast).
