UFC Belfast has now lost its co-main event because we’re not allowed to have nice things

Why does this keep happening?

It’s as if UFC fight cards taking place on these shores are destined to fall apart from the top down.

Last week we received the terrible news that SBG welterweight Gunnar Nelson had been forced out of his Belfast headliner against Dong Hyun Kim after he injured his ankle in preparation.

The Irish interest in the card was dealt a bruising blow after Iceland’s ‘Gunni’, Ireland’s adopted son, withdrew and the main event was scrapped altogether.

The UFC moved swiftly and admirably to replace it with a banger of a bout in the form of the middleweight rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall.

But now the November 19 card has seemingly lost another of its biggest fights as James Krause, scheduled to face off with Ross Pearson in the co-main event, announced that he is unable to compete.

Krause took to Instagram to explain that he had torn his hamstring in a grappling session earlier this week and the injury would rule him out of next month’s event.

It comes as the second time in three months that Krause has been forced out of a fight against Pearson. After pulling out of a July clash with England’s Pearson, Krause was replaced by the debuting Will Brooks.

At the time of writing, it’s being reported that Scottish fighter Stevie Ray is being considered as a potential replacement opponent for ‘The Real Deal’ but it begs the question – what the hell did Irish fans do to deserve such bad luck.
