Nous sommes Japan.

The whole world stopped for five minutes and held its breath.

Everyone on the planet – barring the South Africans – pushed that ball over the line as Japan grabbed a historic World Cup win in Brighton.

It sparked unbelievable scenes all over the world as we all became Japanese for a few minutes. Mostly, just sportspeople looking to believe that David could actually still slay Goliath.

And the Irish folk, fresh from watching an emphatic win over Canada in our World Cup victory, found more cause for celebration watching the Japanese stun the Springboks.

The fanzone in Cardiff came to a standstill as Japan huffed and puffed and the winning try sparked amazing scenes amongst rugby supporters all dressed in green, but celebrating a remarkable feat and a great day for sport.

Thanks to Ronan Brennan for sending us this brilliant video.
