Andrew Conway gives young Munster fan greatest birthday present he could possibly ask for

If this incredible gesture from Andrew Conway doesn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy, better call the mortician now… because you’re dead inside.

Munster have sealed the signing of the 26-year-old who has extended his contract at Thomond Park with a deal until 2020.

Announcing the news, the province released a statement.

“Currently in his fifth season with the province, Conway has signed a two-year deal that will see him remain in red until at least June 2020.

“The 26-year-old winger/fullback, who made his debut against Zebre in September 2013, is drawing closer to the century mark after making 91 appearances for the province.

“With 28 tries to his name, he finished last year’s campaign as the province’s leading try scorer of the season with 11 tries.”

It brought us back to last year’s semi-final win over Zebre which was special for a number of reasons. It was always going to be an enjoyable experience for fans, but there was also that wonder try from Simon Zebo and the fact that it was provincial legend Donnacha Ryan’s final home game for Munster.

Every rugby fan from the province had an absolute blast, but one young fan named William Murphy had a better time than any of them.

His father shared the brilliant experience in Limerick to the Munster Rugby Supporters Facebook page. It all began with a school project.

William decided to write his on his true passion, the history of his beloved Munster, with his hero Andrew Conway taking centre stage in the assignment. His mother sent a copy of the project to the Munster man who was so impressed with what he read that he responded and arranged to meet young William after the match.

In Thomond, William was just metres away from Conway as he slid home for the try. At that point, he told his father that it was the bet birthday present ever… but it got better.

Conway was a man of his word and met with the youngster after the game as planned. He gave William a signed match jersey, which left the youngster lost for words.

Good luck finding him a birthday present next year, is all we’ll say.
