WATCH: Crazy scenes as Mohill claim Leitrim football title with injury-time goal

"A goal! A goal! A goal for Mohill!"

Mikey Stafford

Fair play to Ronan Kennedy, there is ice flowing through those veins.

Mohill were facing down the barrel of a painful Leitrim SFC county final replay defeat when the ball found its way into Kennedy’s hands.

Scores were few and far between but the Leitrim forward treated those inside Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada to a very classy finale. Unless of course you were supporting Glencar-Manorhamilton.

With Mohill trailing by four points to six, Alan McLoughlin played a ball into the square. Kennedy collected and, with Colin Gilligan racing out of the Glencar-Manorhamilton goal, showed remarkable poise to round the keeper and poke a shot into the corner.

Cue pandemonium and, seconds later, the final whistle.

One of the sweetest moments in Mohill GAA History

Mohill’s first county title in nine years was an emotional affair for the Leitrim club, as it was their first since clubmate Philly McGuinness died following an accidental on-field collision back in 2010.

On Saturday night his brothers Michael and John, who both played in the final, visited the former county star’s grave with the cup.
