Poor Gerard Pique, you’d almost feel sorry for him.

If he wasn’t married to Shakira, one of the most successful footballers of his generation and won every trophy possible. But still, it can’t be nice getting booed by your own team’s fans.

Spanish fans once again mercilessly booed the Barcelona defender during their side’s 2-0 win over England at the Estadio José Rico Pérez stadium in Alicante.

The 28 year old defender, who has not hid his support for Catalan independence from Spain has been booed while playing for La Roja in the past, and was even whistled at when he stepped off the team bus yesterday.

Pique did have unlikely support though in the form of England fans, who coined this chant in his honour.

“Ole… ole, ole, ole… Pique, Pique… Gerard Pique… he’s one our own”
