Annalise Murphy lifts Ireland’s spirits with brilliant silver medal

Annalise Murphy has won a silver medal.

Drink that in. The Irish sailor took home Ireland's second medal of the Games, on the same day Michael Conlan was on the end of a very controversial decision in the Olympic boxing ring. Murphy came fifth in the final race in the laser radial class in Rio, but did enough to take second place overall. The Dubliner finished sixth in her race on Saturday afternoon, leaving herself in third position heading into today's medal race.  At one point the 26-year-old was in contention for gold, but will be delighted with silver after so cruelly coming fourth in the event four years ago in London.
