Another day another James McClean controversy

Pre-season is meant to be a time when you get back your fitness, enjoy whatever far far flung place your team has decided to 'tour in' and generally try and impress the manager before the start of a new season. Sounds simple. But maybe James McClean may have missed that memo as he's been abused online for an incident in last night's match between West Brom and Charleston Battery at the Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston. The Ireland international was a €2.5 million purchase by the club last month from Wigan, but it's likely the club will take a very dim view of his apparent lack of respect for the British national anthem last night. The player allegedly turned his back on the Union Jack before the game and the twitter trolls took aim at the winger for his actions at the 3.30 mark in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UabToxMHdSw&t=3m30s https://twitter.com/collette_mca/status/622773501120811008 McClean has previously come under fire for refusing to wear a poppy, and it seems that this latest incident has upset a lot of people. https://twitter.com/LukeEdwardsTele/status/622727267953811456 https://twitter.com/lewisshepherd12/status/622742498914471936 https://twitter.com/GP/status/622743536815984640 https://twitter.com/RoaringMeg1872/status/622740907188711428 However it wasn't all negative for the Irishman who did get some praise for the stance on social media. https://twitter.com/thomasmccallion/status/622758227822931968 https://twitter.com/smadeley_star/status/622768156986200064 https://twitter.com/FastMoney96/status/622774131608567809 H/T to Eurosport
