Paul McGrath will be absolutely delighted with how his charity auction played out.

McGrath had been auctioning a signed Manchester United jersey for his daughter-in-law, Nicola, who’s trekking to Everest Base Camp for the Brainwave, a UK-based charity which helps children with disabilities. https://twitter.com/Paulmcgrath5/status/759118564351680512 With the auction drawing to a close, Mulligans, an Irish bar based in Manchester came in with a bid of €700 for the coveted piece of memorabilia. https://twitter.com/mulligans_MCR/status/759815244591935489 Then a famous face entered the race to sign it. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville came in with an offer of £1,000. However, Neville didn't want the shirt for himself. He offered to buy it for the pub, but only on the condition that ex-Red Devil Norman Whiteside would sign it as well. McGrath confirmed that his pal Whiteside would happily scrawl his John Hancock across the jersey. https://twitter.com/GNev2/status/759817392872488960 https://twitter.com/Paulmcgrath5/status/759818465632980992 Despite already securing the jersey, Mulligans came back with a counter offer for Neville. They would match his £1,000 for the shirt, bringing the total up to £2,000, if he signed it as well. https://twitter.com/mulligans_MCR/status/759823435706998784 Neville obliged and chose for all the money to go to McGrath's auction. https://twitter.com/GNev2/status/759824032644509696 https://twitter.com/Paulmcgrath5/status/759841067462193152 Faith in humanity restored.
