Paddy Barnes was understandably furious to see his friend be on the end of such a ludicrous decision.

Michael Conlan exited the Rio Games in highly controversial circumstances. Despite appearing to beat Vladimir Nikitin in his quarter-final bout, Conlan was deemed to have lost the fight by the judges, with the Russian being awarded a unanimous decision from the judges. Conlan was furious about the decision, labelling then AIBA "cheats" and swearing never to fight at amateur level again. Barnes, his close friend and two-time Olympic bronze medallist, who lost a bout at the Games last week, rubbed his finger and thumb together, the universal gesture for bribery, to the judges as the decision was announced.
