Katie Taylor's dream of six world boxing championships in a row is over.

Taylor suffered a split decision loss to France's Estelle Mosley in the semi-finals in Astana on Thursday meaning for the the first time she will be returning from a world championships with a medal that isn't gold. The Bray boxer already had her Olympic spot at Rio and a world championship bronze medal secured after winning her quarter-final, but the loss means that for the first time since 2005, someone who isn't called Katie Taylor will be the lightweight world champion. Taylor got the nod from all judges in the close first round, before dropping the second on two of the judges' cards. She looked exhausted in the third, but fought back well to pip it, but the decisive fourth round and split decision was nicked by Mosley. The defeat marks the second in a short period for Taylor after she lost to Yana Alekseevna last month at the Olympic Qualification tournament in Samsun. However, fans were all in agreement that the judging for this bout was bizarre, to say the least. https://twitter.com/whiwh/status/735838894961348608 https://twitter.com/me_stafford/status/735837443308564481 https://twitter.com/wexside1/status/735839243134734337 https://twitter.com/Alanna543/status/735838145032409088 https://twitter.com/Stevenward_/status/735838388448858113 https://twitter.com/SteveCcork/status/735838125080104960 https://twitter.com/StevenByrne4/status/735838086144364546 Click snap
